What is a joke?

Yes!( we can ).
Writing today the first of the year could mean to some of my friends that segun will seriously blog this year and other ah,okay o.Well, its a new year and we pray and hope that new year be better than the previous.Was chatting with a young lady who probed into my chosen career.She wonders severely why people would laugh at comedy shows bearing in mind the "stupidity and unseriousness'' of comics(comedians).
I try to aviod her at every slightest oppurtunity i have whenever she approaches the gate of my house: for she'll do nothing but criticize me ,my acts and my contemporaries destructively.But the end of the year was a good time to sit and school her as she posed a question that gave me a cue to really respond to.
Scornfully,"ehn you say you're a comedian abi?, oya, describe a joke!" With the reaction on my face she added promptly, "I mean what is a joke?" Okay, i said, but in my mind, ah! this girl again?
Jokes (one factor that get my bills paid).
Theories about jokes come and go out of fashion all the time. There is however, a model that seems to hold true for the most jokes... at least in Nigeria.

A joke is something that must have all the information implicit in the set up ,that when the surprise or punchline is revealed,it all make "sense".So, it will not be wrong to conclude that joke is sense.
